Published on Friday, 27 November 2009
Moving to a new home can be very stressful for homeowners. But if you can prepare and organize the packing properly, then the problems about moving can be reduced significantly.
The first thing you have to do is to make a list of your belongings. Make an inventory of the furniture, appliances, and personal belongings that you want to take with you. Put a label on every box you use to store small items. List the content of each box so you can find your things easily when you unpack.
Always prepare lots of packing supplies. These supplies include boxes, packing tapes, ropes, harnesses, markers, and color coded labels. You may also need plenty of old newspapers to wrap breakable and fragile objects. Some foams and cushioning materials are also very important so you should have them to protect your belongings.
And lastly, you have to create a concrete schedule. Pack as early as possible starting with small items and non-essential things around the house. This way, you will not be hard pressed for time when moving time comes.
A little organization and lots of preparation can make a big difference when you move. Moving is always easier if you are well prepared for it.
