Clapham: One of the Toniest Places to Live in London
Published on Saturday, 02 January 2010
Are you looking for a place to live in the greater area of London?  Are you the kind of person who enjoys shopping, loves the nightlife, and generally thrives in a place where the atmosphere is always alive and active?  If that is you, then the place you should scout for your new flat is Clapham.
Clapham is one of the toniest places to live in Greater London.  It is a hub for shopping, with shopping centres, boutiques and department stores located in Clapham Commons, Clapham Old Town and the Abbeville Village.  These areas are also peppered with restaurants, pubs and other spots for hanging out and having fun.  Also, Clapham is only a short drive or train ride away from central London.
These reasons are why Clapham is the choice place to live amongst young professionals and middle-class families.  Clapham is also the address of many celebrities, including the Redgrave clan of actors, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, and Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling.
A View of the Right Places to Stay in When Moving to Clapham
If you want a flat in Clapham, your choice is dependent on what you can afford.  The homes around Clapham Old Town are the most beautiful and most comfortable in the area, but they are also the most expensive.  More affordable suburban homes can be found in Abbeville Village, where middle-class families generally live in lovely Victorian houses.
If you are single and on a somewhat tighter budget, you will have a better shot at finding a good flat in the northern part of Clapham.  Northern Clapham is not as tony as the rest of Clapham, but it is quiet and safe.
