How to Prepare Your Plants for the Moving Day How to Prepare Your Plants for the Moving Day Bringing plants to your new place should be done with utmost care. The main goal really is to be able to keep them as healthy and beautiful as they are now. In as early as a few weeks before the move, you can start pruning the plants so they will not be so big to transport. Make sure you have experience in it. If you don't, then you better consult the florist or research the proper way of doing it. Then you must prepare the plants by putting them in black plastic bags a week before the move. Don't forget to put pest strips in the bag. This way you will be able to get rid of the bugs and other pests before transporting them. Now, to prepare the plants for the actual transport you can put them in cardboard boxes a day before the move. Make sure that they are steady so they will not be damaged while in transit. What you can do is wet some newspapers or packing papers and put them in the box to keep the plants in place. To keep the leaves healthy, put a layer of wet paper on top of the leaves. Many times you would have to leave some of the plants behind. You actually have the option to take some cuttings with you so you can grow the same plant again. Don't forget to label the boxes appropriately so the movers will not take them. Don't forget to punch some holes in the boxes too to give them some air. If it's summer, do not park in the open sun. If it's winter, park the car in the sunny area. And when you get home, unpack the plants as soon as possible to get them to natural environment again.
