Kicking Away the Out of Place Feeling
For many people who've just moved into a neighbourhood or community, things can be a bit rough. Unpacking is one, and then there's the getting used to the environment; for awhile you'll scratch your head thinking where the grocery is or get lost after bringing your kids to school. It is inevitable that many feel lonely during their first few weeks in their new home.

But there are many ways to kick that unproductive and negative feeling of loneliness. Here's how:

1. Learn more and research about the community.
Before you actually move in, try to research about the kind of community you are moving into. This will enable you to be more familiar with the area and make you look less like a newcomer.

2. Greet people.
A simple hi or hello, or even a little introduction can go a long way. Since you're the one who's just moved in, you need to take the initiative to know the people who live around you and introduce yourself to them as their new neighbor.

3. Seek out and join common interest groups.
If you are into knitting or any sort of hobby or sport, try to look if there's a common interest group in your new neighbourhood that you can join. Let's say you play baseball, try to see if there's a local team you can join or involve yourself in.
