Published on Tuesday, 27 October 2009
Moving is very stressful. If you are doing your own packing, your kitchen is the part of your house that needs a lot of attention in packing. Your kitchen contains your daily basic needs. It also has some of the most expensive appliances in here such as your gas range, oven, microwave, and refrigerator.
Your refrigerator is one of the appliances that you might want to bring in your new home. Here are some tips on how to move with your refrigerator:
Remove all contents. Make sure to remove all the items inside your refrigerator if you are planning to bring it with you in your new home. Try to remove everything that is detachable inside. This is to prevent any breakage or possible damage of your refrigerator.
Defrost it properly. Make sure to defrost your refrigerator at least six hours or more before moving it. Do not forget to cord your refrigerator to prevent it from being opened during the move.
Try to move it in an upright position. In most cases, refrigerators should be moved with care. They should also be moved in an upright position. Too much tilting could damage your refrigerator's cooling system. So, you need at least 3 to 4 strong men to move your refrigerator.
Do not turn it on immediately after the transit. Once you have positioned it in your new kitchen, leave it for at least 24 to 72 hours before turning it on. This is to make sure its cooling system or compressor is already okay after the move.
Doing these simple tips could save your refrigerator to any damage during your move.
