Moving with Trucking Services Moving with Trucking Services The difference between a trucking service and a moving and packing company is that with the former, you handle all the packing and stacking inside the truck, and pay for the space you consume. The trucking company will then handle the fuel costs and you simply wait to have your goods delivered to your new place of residence. Cost for trucking services are generally smaller than that of a moving and packing company, since they also send helpers to assist in the packing and moving of your goods. However, the catch is that with a trucking company, you do all the heavy lifting yourself. The truck driver may or may not help you out as it is not a part of his job. You may give him a tip or fee for him to help you out though. Actual rates vary on the space you need, the distance from your old home to your new destination, as well as the time of the week (moving on weekends tend to be more expensive, as many people prefer to move during Saturdays and Sundays). One of the ways you can save time is by putting your goods out just before the truck comes so that you don't have to trek back and forth carting your boxes to the truck, if you can borrow or buy a trolley, so much the better. You should also label your boxes properly make a checklist so that you can verify if all your packages are complete when delivered to your new home.
