Two General Types of Moving Quotes
Published on Sunday, 08 November 2009
Comparing different moving companies will never be complete if you won't get moving quotes from the companies for your selection. The moving quote is even the most important basis when people choose a moving company. The quote will tell you the rates and the services that a certain company can offer for your moving.
However, getting just plain moving quotes might not help you a lot. You should also know that there are two general types of moving quotes.
Moving quotes are generally categorized into binding and non-binding.
1. Binding Quotes. Binding quotes are legal quotes containing contracts and rates that will not be changed unless you request additional services. A company will only be able to give you a binding quote if their representative comes over your house and see the things they have to move. Binding quotes can have expensive estimates but at least, these estimates won't go any more expensive than that.
2. Non-Binding Quotes. Non-binding quotes are the exact opposite of the binding quotes. You should never honor non-binding quotes because companies tend to ask higher payments than their given non-binding estimates. Companies giving non-binding quotes will only give you estimates over the phone. They will only ask you the square meters of everything they need to move and give you instant estimate. You may be surprised of how cheap the estimate is, but non-binding quotes will usually ask higher than that "cheap" estimate.
Be careful when dealing with companies giving you non-binding quotes and ask only a binding quote. Do that by asking the company's representative to see everything they have to move before giving you estimates.
