What to Do When You Have to Move-With the House Still Unsold Suppose you got promoted and you need to move in the city in two weeks. Or better, your new home has been completed and your kids should be able to start the academic year in their new school. At any rate, sometimes you have to move before your house is sold. So what should you do? You can still opt to sell your house while you're in your new home. But selling a house in this situation can be very challenging. If however, it's a job promotion, the best thing to do is go ahead and leave the others behind for temporarily until your house gets sold. If neither is the case, here are a few tips for you. ·       Stay in touch with your realtor. Constantly ask your realtors how many potential buyers visit your house everyday. ·       Leave some pieces of furniture. Furnished homes are more attractive than empty ones. ·       If your house will have to stand empty, leave some photos so buyers can visualize how it looks like with furnishings. Better yet, hire staging companies to maximize the marketability of your property. ·       Hire a gardener or caretaker of the lawn to ensure that your curb appeal is maintained. ·       Protect your house from intruders - use security alarm systems if possible. Just remember to share the code with your realtor. ·       Go over your homeowners insurance. Some insurance companies usually have limits on how long they can offer coverage for your house while it is vacant.
