Various Moving Tips from Packing Preparation to Final Moving Preparation

It is already complicated to move from house to house. And this becomes more complicated because of being unprepared and worse, being disorganized. So, whether you are to move locally or interstate, your stress will be lesser if you are prepared and organized well.

Before the Packing Preparation

Packing is a major contributory for the success of your moving. How well you packed your things will surely be visible during the final moving process.

But before you finally start putting all your things in those cardboard boxes, there are still some things that you need to do. Many people overlook this process but preparing for the packing is also an important step for the moving. Here are some tips helpful for that:

Gather all your needed materials as early as possible. Include to that some big and small cardboard boxes, packaging tapes, strings, scissors, markers, etc.
Find a big working area where all the cartons of different sizes can fit in. This can be the basement, garage, or room not in use.

Have a protected working surface. This can be a strong big old table, which is covered with an old bed sheet or plastic sheet.

Get a big but old tin can where you can store all your packing necessities like scissors, packing string, packing tape, and markers.

Devote one corner of your packing room for old newspapers, packing papers, packing bags, Styrofoam, and bubble wrap.

Final Moving Preparation Tips

So you already have your packing room ready. But you're not yet done. There are still some things you should do:

Pack the lighter things at the top of the heavier stuffs.
Put only a maximum of 50 pounds of things in each box.
Make sure you have sealed the boxes properly with the packaging tape. Put extra protection on the box's bottom.
Double check the packing materials and make sure you have enough.
Have a note for each box. Write the contents of each box and give some special instructions like if the items in there are fragile.
Make two copies of your notes, one for you and one for the movers.
You can do the noting more organized by assigning a number for each box and detailing everything in each box.
Mark each box to what room it belongs.
Start the packing some weeks before the moving. Packing your things little by little everyday will help make your job easier.
Bring only the things you need. Your unimportant things can be sold through a garage sale or can be donated to a charity.
Start packing of things from the least used room.

Just follow these tips carefully and your moving will run more smoothly than you expect.
